2510km so far.
And I am in Santiago de la Compostela!!! It’s a beautiful city and the first stop was of course the Cathedral, where exhausted pilgrims were hugging each other.
The day started with a catch up with an old friend, Juanjo, who took us on a little tour. So I started fairly late thinking 60km would be easy.
Wrong! It was climbing all the way. I counted 15 hill climbs in total. The second and the fourth were the worst. Just an 8% incline but they were very long. I had done 30km in just under 3 hours. It was pitiful. But as usual I just kept going. I expected long sweeping downhills but they never came. So actually quite a tough afternoon. But getting to Santiago de la Compostela was nice because it’s the end of the pilgrim trail. And it just felt a bit special as I have completed a traditional route which is on many people’s bucket lists.
And also I was incredibly lucky because Carmela, a friend of Lorena’s showed us around and cooked dinner for us and let us stay in her beautiful home.
Muchas gracias Carmela!!!!
